iTanks —the innovation motor for the ports of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Antwerp- leads the Smart Port program.
The program kick-off took place on Thursday June 2nd with the following presentations:
- Willem van der Graaf, Smart Port program director on behalf of iTanks and former commercial director of SPIE, gives a short introduction on iTanks and discusses his vision and ideas for the program.
- Jacqueline Bloemhof, professor at Wageningen University and Research Center, will discuss the possibilities of Big Data in logistics. She will present some exemplary projects with FloraHolland and the Port of Rotterdam.
- Eric van Heck, professor at the Rotterdam School of Management of Erasmus University, and Rommert Dekker, professor Operations Research at Erasmus University, will share their knowledge in the fields of Big Data and Smart Ports.
- Johan Kalkoven, lecturer Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, will present research on Seaport Logistics and next to that he will also present a concrete project for the Smart Ports program.
Attendees included several Big Data Alliance partners like iTanks, KLM, Port of Amsterdam, ORTEC, VU University Amsterdam, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Wageningen University and the Amsterdam School of Applied Sciences. Other interested parties were the Port of Rotterdam, Schiphol, Rijkswaterstaat, TNO and the Municipality of Rotterdam.
