Located in Heerlen, the Smart Services Campus is the centre of new developments in the fields of Big Data, Internet of Things and Smart Services in the Euregio. Within the Smart Services Campus, the unique cooperation between Maastricht University, the Open University and Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in both research and education has resulted in the founding of the Business Intelligence and Smart Services (BISS) Institute.
BISS is dedicated to the economic growth of its surroundings through the personal development of students and professionals, both regionally and internationally. At BISS, both general education (bachelor’s and master’s programmes) and exceptional education (small scale projects, postgraduate education, retraining personnel) will be offered.
BISS is founded on the belief that the best solutions are found by addressing an issue through multidisciplinary, interactive teamwork. Collaboration at BISS will involve researchers and students from Maastricht University, the Open University and Zuyd University of Applied Sciences together with business and academic partners from the Euregio and the BISS international network.
BISS is a “lab-like” environment where all are encouraged to experiment with ideas beyond conventional thinking. Data visualisation, app creation and big data generation are just some examples of business development projects within the BISS test community.
