Dr. Bert Bredeweg is an associate professor within the Informatics Instituteat the University of Amsterdam leading the Qualitative Reasoning Group. His research focus is the development of tools and expertise that supports the acquisition of conceptual understanding of dynamic systems through conceptual modelling and simulation. Topics of interest include:

- Learner & User modelling / Cognitive diagnosis
The interactive learning environment DynaLearn allows for a novel form of active learning (learning by modelling). Scientists can use Garp3 to develop and test explicit conceptual (causal) representations of scientific theories and particular systems to which they apply.
