Ronald Does is a professor of Industrial Statistics at the Department of Operations Management of the University of Amsterdam. Before that he was a professor of Industrial Statistics at the Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics of the University of Amsterdam from 1991 through 2009.
He founded and currently is academic and managing director of the Institute for Business and Industrial Statistics (IBIS UvA), which is an independent consultancy firm owned by the University of Amsterdam. IBIS UvA specialises in strategies for operational excellence based on empirical research, such as Lean Six Sigma and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
He focuses on four research topics in particular:
- Control charts;
- Lean Six Sigma;
- Healthcare Engineering;
- Integration of industrial statistics in healthcare and finance.
