Date: 6 September 2017
Location: Brightlands Smart Services Campus, Smedestraat 2, 6411 CR Heerlen
This seminar will be presented by Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang Wahlster, Scientific Director and CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Germany:
When we introduced the concept of Industrie 4.0 as the fourth industrial revolution based on cyber-physical production systems in 2010, it was already clear that mass customization must be heavily based on AI technologies such as collaborative robotics. Smart Products produces in smart factories become platforms for smart services. Autonomous systems, which can reach a given goal on their own, are the next wave for service automation.
The talk introduces a reference architecture for autonomous systems that includes a broad range of AI components from machine learning to automated action planning. A promising future trend are hybrid teams of several autonomous systems and humans, who distribute a task across the team members according to their specific skills and then work on it together.
